CLASS OF 2023 SENIOR YEAR INFORMATION

SENIOR YEAR is here! We all want this milestone year to be the best one possible for our seniors. We have many special events and activities planned to celebrate the Class of 2023! To make that happen, we NEED your support. Each year the Parent Association asks for a SENIOR YEAR DONATION in the amount of $125 (+ a small fee to offset cc fees) to cover the expenses of Project Graduation and other senior perks and recognitions, including yard signs. If you have the means to donate more than the suggested amount, it will certainly be welcome. Please know that EVERY DOLLAR collected will be used for our seniors. Your tax-deductible donation is so important in helping us make this year the best it can be for the CLASS OF 2023!

SENIOR PERKS, RECOGNITIONS AND ACTIVITES
  • PROJECT GRADUATION: This is an all-night drug and alcohol-free celebration held at FHS the night of graduation exclusively for FHS graduates. The event, sponsored by the FHS Parent Association, features hours of games, activities, music, entertainment, food and major prize giveaways. In fact, EVERY student will leave with a significant gift!.
  • SENIOR PORTRAITS: Lifetouch is the photography company that handles FHS senior portraits and yearbook photos. In order for your student’s senior picture to be in the FHS yearbook, you must have pictures taken by Lifetouch/Prestige Portraits. If you have not received information from Prestige, schedule online at prestigeportraits.com or email them at lifetouchnashville@lifetouch.com. The yearbook photo must be taken by Lifetouch. There is a $30 base price sitting fee for Seniors that is new this year. Please contact one of the Senior Class Parent Reps listed below with any questions about this.
  • YEARBOOK AD: Senior families may purchase an ad honoring their student. These ads are placed in the back of the yearbook and cost varies with size. Look at this year’s yearbook to get ideas. Information about the yearbook ad is enclosed or can also be found at fhsparents.org. Ad responses are due November 15, 2022. The Form for these ads can be found HERE
  • SHADOW PROJECT: October 4 and March 2: Seniors select someone in the workforce to “shadow.” Dates will be the same days other grades are taking the PSAT and ACT. Students must complete an online form for the Counseling Office before and after the project.
  • GRADUATION FEE: This fee is different than the Senior Year Donation mentioned earlier and is paid directly to the school for cap, gown, tassel, diploma cover, one final transcript and other costs associated with graduation. Students now keep their gowns instead of renting them as in the past. This year’s fee is $100. Payment is made directly to FHS by check or online by clicking HERE For WCS Online Payment
  • GRADUATION ITEMS: A student meeting will be held in the fall to present a Herff Jones package including invitations and a variety of options. Payment for graduation invitations and other items is made to Herff Jones. While the information from Herff Jones will request sizes for cap and gown, the graduation fee which covers cap and gown, is paid to FHS.
  • SENIOR YARD SIGNS: These signs are placed in a graduate’s yard in the weeks leading up to graduation. A senior response form MUST be completed and returned to the FHS Parent Association to receive a sign. Every senior will receive a sign regardless of donation. The Senior Response Form is enclosed or can be found on the fhsparents.org website.
  • FINAL EXAMS & EXEMPTION POLICY: Semester and final exams in a subject shall not be required for those seniors who have maintained an A average in that subject, NO unexcused absences, and have not been suspended during the semester. If your student has an A in a class (91 or greater) and has had no more than 8 excused absences, he/she will be exempt from that class’s final exam. Students must still take AP/IB Exams. Field trips and college visits with principal approval and a letter from the college received on the day of the visit will not count as one of the 8 absences.
